Todd Guy - President/Owner
  • Twenty-five years of oilfield related experience.  Previously employed by a major electrical / instrumentation contractor was a supervisor for over 300 electrical / instrumentation personnel.
  • Owner/ Operator of an electrical inspection and consulting company, for four years.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of oilfield construction, maintenance and energy management.

Brad Turnbull - General Manager/Owner
  • Twenty-seven years of related oil and gas experience in the Drayton Valley area.  Previously a contract operator for major Oil and Gas Company, for eight years.
  • Owner/ Operator of an oil and gas electrical contracting company for eleven years, employing up to thirty staff.
  • Brad has considerable experience in the process and actual workings of oil and gas facilities.  His operational background, along with his electrical training makes him very knowledgeable in problem solving, process issues, lining up equipment and power for production facilities, water plant facilities, installations, plant turn around, pump jack installations, SCADA installations and remote callout systems.
  • Mr. Turnbull started with IEC since inception, in June 2003. He currently looks after the Drayton Valley branch day-to-day organization of manpower and job scoping.

Brent Erickson - Safety & Project Manager/Owner
  • Twenty-seven years related oil and gas experience in the Drayton Valley area.  Previously worked for a major electrical / instrumentation contractor as a safety representative, with vast knowledge of safety and training in the work place, for six years.
  • Managed and operated an electrical/ instrumentation shop, staffing thirty to fifty Electrical and Instrumentation tradesman, for twelve years.
  • Brent is well versed in construction and maintenance in the oil and gas field.  He currently looks after bid projects from start to finish, as well as maintaining Independent Electric and Controls Ltd. safety program and COR.

Brad Turner - Vp Technical Services And Business Development

Rob Callow - Northern Regional Manager
  • With Thirty years of oilfield related experience in Western Canada, Rob brings a rich blend of technical experience and industry knowledge to the position of Regional Manager. Taking on the role of support for our northern branches, he will enhance our existing management and skilled personnel in this rapid growth sector of the oil and gas industry.
  • Previously an owner/operator of an E/I contracting company for 15 years followed by employment with a major Electrical/Instrumentation contractor where he held a number of senior management positions ranging from Branch Manager all the way to General Manager.
  • Through his years in the industry, Rob is well versed in all aspects of the oil and gas industry and will be using his experience in areas of project management, field construction and maintenance, power system design/construction including transmission, distribution and substation installations; to ensure IEC’s continued forward progress. 

Lloyd Greer - Eastern District Manager
  • Twenty plus years of experience in Oilfield maintenance and small projects with two major Electrical and Instrumentation companies.
  • Lloyd is a Journeyman Electrician with broad industry knowledge in areas of trouble shooting, problem solving and working with customers to achieve a common goal. Excellent base of working on day to day maintenance, well electrification and optimization, scheduling of plant turnarounds.
  • Working as an area manager for three locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan overseeing day to day operations has given Lloyd a solid base of hands on knowledge.
  • Further skills were developed in the day to day operations of numerous area offices, including forecasts/budgeting, estimating maintenance contracts, working with HSE, Human Resources and Sales. 

Terry McDowell - Business Development
  • With 28 years of oilfield related experience within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, Terry’s experience in estimating, construction, project management and his focus on managing the client’s needs will assist him in his role in Business Development.
  • In the span of 25 years that Terry spend  with a major Electrical /Instrumentation contractor he was fortunate enough to gain a wealth of experience as a Construction Foreman, Maintenance Coordinator, Manager of Estimating , Project Manager and Business Development Manager.
  • Although Terry will assist in all areas of Independent Electric & Controls Ltd. day to day operations his focus will be to insure that we satisfy all of our clients’ expectations in a safe and timely manner.

Aaron Dingwell - Construction Division Lead
  • With fourteen years experience in the construction industry as an electrician, Aaron has a strong background in commercial, industrial, and oil and gas electrical construction.
  • Aaron has worked in supervisory roles on many projects ranging from, Oil Sands Construction, Major Facility construction, Plant expansion and upgrades to smaller projects such as Well site and RTU installations, Control panel fabrication and Skid wiring.
  • Previously employed by a major electrical / instrumentation contractor on a major Oil Sands Project as a project superintendent where his duties ranged from working with Safety, Schedulers, Administration and H/R personnel to ensuring work fronts were made available for field crews. He was also responsible for Document/Quality Control and Turnover documentation to the Clients.
  • Aaron believes in a Safe Work Attitude, and is committed to mentoring apprentices into journeymen and journeymen into supervisors, as well as providing a quality service to all of our customers.

Hal Cozart - Estimating Manager
  • With twenty five years oilfield related electrical experience, Hal brings well diversified knowledge and practicality to our company.
  • Hal was previously employed by a major electrical / instrumentation contractor, having experience in all stages of construction on a wide range of oilfield facilities.  As a construction foreman/supervisor duties included managing projects, personal and procurement
  • As the Branch Manager his knowledge and skills were focused also facilitating his shop in facility maintenance, trouble shooting. The move from field into Estimating office was a smooth transition, with the knowledge learned and experiences in the field. Knowledgeable in all aspects of oilfield construction and maintenance give him a good overview of all estimating projects.
  • Hal feels strongly that it takes team work and organization to meet goals and growth

Steeve Bradet - Construction Manager
  • A decade plus experience in oil and gas related project execution has given Steeve a base in all aspects of project controls. From MOC, estimating, turnover/proposal packages and demand curve, Steeve is able to see a task through from inception to completion.
  • Branch manager of a major E/I contractor in a new area, he was successful in increasing and maintaining satisfied customers while balancing management and supervision of 15-50 staff.
  • From small to multi-million dollar projects, Steeve has experienced all levels of project management from Foreman, Superintendent, Project manager and Manager of Construction Division and IEC looks forward to benefiting from the broad base of experience that he is bringing to our Project/Construction division.

Jamie  Deisting - Major Project Manager
  • Project execution has been Jamie’s focus for the last 15 years as he built his background in controls including MOC (Management of Change), estimating, cost to complete projections, turnover packages, proposal packages, s-curve creation and management.
  • Supervision and hands on management of 125 electrical and instrumentation staff have given Jamie a complete understanding of all aspects of the trade.
  • Previously employed as a Commissioning and start up consultant for a major oil sands company, a successful Area manager and a Branch manager for large E/I contractors, Jamie knowledge and skills are a welcome addition to the project management team of IEC.

Emmet  Crough - Sales Manager – Calgary - AB
  • Over 25 years extensive oilfield related experience and contacts provide a solid base for the position of Sales Manager that Emmet currently holds with IEC.
  • During his previous 20+ year’s employment with a major E/I contracting company, he developed wide-ranging knowledge that was further enhanced with 12 years of electrical estimating.
  • Additionally, 7 years in the Calgary area has enabled him to develop and maintain strong relationships in the business community that provide a solid foundation of opportunities for IEC.  

Sam Paul - Electrical Manager – Athabasca, AB
  • Fifteen years experience in oilfield maintenance and construction.
  • Previously employed by a major oilfield electrical / instrumentation company where he supervised many construction jobs and was in charge of commissioning of projects. Has a broad knowledge of instrumentation and process control, with various instrument devices and equipment.

Daryl Johnston - Instrumentation Manager – Athabasca, AB
  • Journeyman Instrument Mechanic with fifteen years related oil and gas experience. Seven years of experience with both construction and maintenance of gas engine, compressor and process control equipment.
  • Solely responsible for providing maintenance program for previous employers largest customer.
  • Experienced in installation and maintenance of SCADA systems. Skilled in troubleshooting and solving process and control issues.

Gord Campbell - Instrument Manager – Barrhead, AB
  • Gord is a Journeyman Instrument Mechanic who brings to IEC, fifteen years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • As a past Head Foreman with a major oil and gas company, he was involved in training and development as well as organization and production of a variety of processes, including compressors, meters and PLC’s.

Jessy Bergley - Electrical Manager - Barrhead, AB
  • Journeyman Electrician with broad industry knowledge in areas of troubleshooting, problem solving and working with customers to achieve a common goal.
  • With over a decade in the trade, Jessy’s experience includes supervision on construction sites, maintenance supervision as well as installation of electrical components on compressors, dehy’s and separator skids.

    Thirty plus years of related oil and gas industry experience in BC, NWT, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Most notable experience has been in sour gas facilities over the past twenty two years in Alberta. David has experience in operations, maintenance, construction as well as supervision.
  • David started in the Instrument trade in 1979 and holds Journeyman Certification. He has grown in many facets from apprenticing to managing his own business. He is also a ticketed Electrician with seventeen years experience, in that trade as well.
  • David recently joined IEC after stepping down from one of Canada’s larger oil and gas producers in the Team Leader Maintenance position, to pursue his passion of working in the trades, mentoring and learning from his apprentices.
  • His focus for Independent Electric & Controls Ltd is to build a reliable competitive service oriented Electric & Instrumentation shop in Drayton Valley.

Tanner Zaporosky - Instrument Manager – Fort Nelson, BC
  • With ten years experience in the oil and gas industry, Tanner has worked as a Measurement and Compression Technician for five years and an additional five as a field foreman and Operations Manager in the Maintenance and Construction field.
  • His knowledge base includes Instrument solutions for many oil and gas applications, preventative maintenance solutions and AUB compliance.
  • Tanner is committed to contributing to continue to establish IEC as a leading service provider in the industry.

Phillip Newton - Electrical Manager – Fort St John, BC
  • Journeyman Electrician with interprovincial qualifications, 18 years experience in maintenance and construction in industrial, commercial and residential environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects and phases of daily operations involving installations, expansions, rebuilds and maintenance performing loop checking, calibrating, terminating, conduit bending, installing cable trays, pulling cable, meggering cables and motors, installation of high voltage switchgear, variable frequency drives (VFD’s), soft starts, alarm panels and transformers.
  • Phil possesses strong organization, problem solving, and interpersonal, supervisory and time management skills. These qualities along with a safety conscious attitude with attention to detail provide leadership for our Fort St John branch.

Juan Panama - Electrical Manager – Red Deer, AB
  • Juan brings international experience to the job of Electrical Manager for Red Deer Alberta. International Qualification Assessment Services (IQAS) have evaluated Juan’s Electrical Engineer status from Central America and certified a comparative level of achievement in Canada: "Mr. Panama’s Title of Electrical Engineer generally compares to the completion of a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in electrical engineering”.
  • Residential, commercial and industrial project experience as an independent electrical contractor for over ten years has given Juan a broad range of knowledge in construction design, compliance and completion.
  • Juan’s commercial experience has continued to grow during the last year as a Journeyman with IEC and he looks forward to meeting the needs of customers in the Red Deer area.

Neil Landers - Branch Manager – Red Deer, AB
  • A wide range of knowledge is what Neil contributes to IEC as he has 20 years experience in both the Oil and Gas and Softwood lumber industries. This includes areas such as calibration, maintenance, programming, troubleshooting and construction.
  • With 8 Years in the Softwood lumber industry, Neil saw involvement in general maintenance, calibration and programming of high tech equipment.
  • Neil gained further industry knowledge with 4 years as an Instrumentation Mechanic and also has several years experience in Heavy Oil projects; working with PCP/ESP pumps, VFD’s, PLC’s, SCADA, Gas compression and Water & Polymer injections.
  • Prior to joining IEC, Neil owned and operated a very successful small Electrical/Instrumentation company, employing up to 17 workers and we are pleased that he brings his electrical and instrumentation problem solving and troubleshooting skills to IEC’s management team.

Ken Roberts - Electrical Manager – Whitehorse, YK
  • Almost two decades of experience in the commercial and residential electrical trades, Ken brings experience and knowledge to the commercial division of our Whitehorse branch. Part of that time was spent working for an electrical contractor in Western Canada where process and service skills were sharpened.
  • As past president of the employee association, representing almost 200 workers, he is well tuned to all aspects of the trade; from health, safety and the environment to industry knowledge.
  • Ken’s previous experience also includes owning and operating a small electrical contracting business.
