Independent Electric & Controls is a growing company that understands that health and safety is an integral part of working in the oil industry. Senior Management brings a hands-on approach and a wealth of experience to all levels of workers within the IEC family.
Attaining our Certificate of Recognition in May 2004 was only the beginning of growth for health, safety and environment management system as the industry itself continues to evolve and the demands on company’s increase. Annual audits continue to measure our progress forward.
In addition to our COR, some of the highlights of our health and safety program include:

At the start of employment, IEC'c New Worker Orientation is Industry Recommended Practice(IRP) #16 certified using Petroleum Safety Training (PST) and in-house orientation programs.

Workers Compensation Clearance's are available for all provinces that we are currently doing business in and prove current active status of all accounts.

Certificates of Insurance are also provided to Prime Contractors when requested indicating the necessary levels of liability insurance are in place for IEC owned trucks as well as any and all subcontractors who work under the IEC logo.

WCB rates based on actual safety performance has always been and remains below industry average and IEC benefit from the discounts.

Petroleum Industry - Guiding Principles
The Company has a responsibility to protect all workers engaged in its activities from personnel injury and health hazards. To meet our responsibility we will operate under the following guiding principles.
Responsibility
The Company, when acting as principle contractor, is responsible for coordination and general supervision of all activities in the work areas, including activities carried out by subcontractors and suppliers. While all parties have a responsibility to promote worker safety, we recognize our leadership role in promoting worker health and safety on the basis that we have the greatest power to influence work situations.
Priority
Activities will be conducted on the basis that safety of all personnel is of vital importance, whether those personnel are employed by the company, or by its contractors, subcontractors, or suppliers.
Recognition
The process of selecting contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, the administration of contract, will include recognition and support of good safety performance. Support and recognition based on good safety performance will also be provided to Company employees.
Improvement
The Company, in cooperation with other companies in the industry, will promote methods and practices that have potential for improving safety performance
